Memory and meaning, held gently in a single frame

Mya Uribe is a self-taught artist and photographer from Oklahoma and a first-generation Mexican American. Her work is guided by emotion and the rhythm of everyday life, often focusing on quiet details that might otherwise go unnoticed- the way people move through space, shifts in light, or the fleeting sensation of something passing.

Through her lens and brush, Uribe explores how seemingly ordinary moments carry hidden layers of meaning for those willing to pause and reflect. Creating is both aform of expression and a way of giving shape to the visions in her mind, conveying what words often cannot. Rooted in her heritage, her practice is also an act of honoring where she comes from while inviting others to imagine new possibilities.
